Quite frankly, this is the best and most refreshing album I have heard since "Dummy" by Portishead. Big Yoga Muffin excel in combining a cutting-edge approach to the use of sound that never strays into mere noise with lyrics exploring the eternal dilemnas of interpersonal relations, and push the envelope while never becoming too self-indulgent.The breadth of this album is astonishing, yet also well-balanced: the cuts vary from the (pseudo?) ironic post-loungecore "Boredom is a luxury" to the unreconstructed RAWK of "Come to Huggy" via the ballad "Hey Freaklips". Jones and Dolittle manage to blaze a trail through territory previously explored by those strange bedfellows Beth Orton and EBTG: modern music with a soul.If you buy this CD, I guarantee that in a year's time you will be boring your friends by bragging that you liked Big Yoga Muffin before everyone else did; the future has much in store for them.
