As Katie grew up, the music grew along with her, and as my daughter's life became more active, the songs did, as well. The beginning of the album features upbeat songs, which slowly transform into mid-tempo pieces, and finally end in lullabies. The title, "Wake Up & Go To Sleep," mirrors this progression. About the Artist Francie Kelley has an extensive background in television and musical theater. She is an accomplished singer/songwriter, guitarist and pianist, and has acted in numerous television commercials as well as a children’s television series called "Camp Wilderness" (for which she also wrote and sang original tunes.) Francie worked at Marine World/Africa USA in Foster City, California, where she played guitar and performed original material written especially for the Ecology Theater. She also became an animal handler, working with everything from hawks to cheetahs. More recently, Francie performed with Barbra Streisand in a one hundred-voice choir in Los Angeles. In 2003, Francie released her CD, "Wake Up and Go to Sleep," a collection of twelve family songs featuring nine original compositions. "Wake Up and Go to Sleep," produced by Artsong Music, won a 2003 Parent’s Choice Award and has received the Dove Foundation Seal of Approval. In 2004, Francie launched a children’s choir program for Grades 2nd-5th at The Wesley School in North Hollywood, where Katie attends. The focus is on enriching children’s lives through the joy of singing together, while broadening their musical repertoire and advancing their vocal technique.
