Great moviesThis is a pretty funny movieBecame plastic surgeon, had a great assistant that kept him in line, he had a story that he would use with his wedding ring it continues from there and it’s very funny although it does have some rude humor but overall it’s greatIt's a good movieNot that I've broken it down in exact mathematics, but I wager that Adam Sandler is batting about .25 in his film career. Meaning that every fourth film he churns out doesn't actually hurt to watch. For every good WATERBOY, THE WEDDING SINGER, and 50 FIRST DATES, there are, four times over, grotesque head scratchers like JACK & JILL, LITTLE NICKY, and YOU DON'T MESS WITH THE ZOHAN. Which brings us to JUST GO WITH IT, which I'm actually going to rate as an above-average romantic comedy, 3 (maybe 3.5) out of 5 stars' worth. JUST GO WITH IT is loosely adapted from the 1969 classic CACTUS FLOWER, and maybe imitation isn't the best form of flattery. This remake isn't quite as good.At least there's the stunning Brooklyn Decker to make googoo eyes at. Sandler plays 40-something Danny Maccabee, a talented plastic surgeon who once had his heart broken and now routinely prowls on them naive hotties. Danny is an average-looking schmoe and so has to rely on his fake wedding ring and made-up bad marriage to gain sympathy and interest from the ladies. It's pretty underhanded, yeah, and it's hard to swallow the gullibility of his marks. It's as if you say, "Hey, look at the dead birds!" And these girls look up.When he meets lovely 6th grade math teacher Palmer (Decker) and they spend a night on the beach, the smitten Danny believes she might be the one. But surface now, you complications. Palmer finds the wedding ring in Danny's jeans pocket. A scrambling Danny claims that, yes, he is married but that his divorce is almost final. A doubting Palmer demands to meet the wife. Palmer is the kind of girl that when you say "Look at the dead bird" she will look at the ground. Here's Jennifer Aniston who plays Katherine, Danny's loyal, bespectacled nurse assistant and single mother of two, and it's not at all a stretch that Danny would approach her to pose as his estranged wife. Of course, she agrees. Of course, she meets Palmer and inadvertently lets drop that she has two kids. Palmer, who adores kids, now wants to meet the kids. Somehow, this party of pretense relocates to a weekend in Hawaii. Along the way, Danny's cousin Eddie (Nick Swardson) invites himself and passes himself off as Katherine's fiancé "Dolph Lundgren." And this Dolph Lundgren happens to have a Colonel Klink German accent and is into sheep husbandry or something ovine-related, anyway. This, thinks Sandler, is brilliant farce.Honestly, no one but Paul Rudd and John Cusack should be doing this sort of mildly risque romantic comedy. Sandler, Jack Black, and Seth Rogen are on a whole different and subservient level. I don't think JUST GO WITH IT is all that bad, considering. But maybe that's just the inner frat boy talking. There's a sweetness in this film that's trying to get out. The gags aren't nearly gross enough to threaten Apatow's self-esteem. Sandler does tone down his shtick, and that's good. Aniston is engaged and amused, but she isn't given any good lines to work with. But her being there rights the ship some. Brooklyn Decker also isn't given much to do other than be nice and wholesome and naturally sexy, and one wonders how she would've fared had the writers written her a more subversive role. But there are enough laughs. I got a big chuckle out of Rachel Dratch's patient with the roaming eyebrow and Kevin Nealon's guy whose face is BOTOXed to the max. Expect other juvenile sight gags such as mismatched fun bags and huge honking schnozzes and, this being a Sandler vehicle, some potty humor. Nicole Kidman is game as Aniston's competitive sorority rival and Dave Matthews is here acting instead of creating music. Dave Matthews' character supposedly invented the iPod. As you can see, in this movie, lie builds upon lie. It's like the Jenga of deceit. The DVD's bonus stuff:- Cast's Audio Commentary (with Adam Sandler & Nick Swardson and a filmmaker or two)- Director Dennis Dugan's Audio Commentary- 5 Deleted Scenes (totaling 00:04:52 minutes)- Blooper Reel (00:04:38 minutes)- "The Perfect Couple: Jen and Adam" (00:05:50 minutes)- "Shooting Hawaii" (00:05:33 minutes)- "Dolph- Not the One from ROCKY IV" (00:06:10 minutes)Another great movie by Adam SandlerCoolGood quality and affordableI'm not surprised that this 2011 romantic comedy attracted plenty of five star reviews, because there are several scenes in it that are unforgettably good. Neither am I surprised that it also collected some one star reviews, because other scenes are the exact opposite. In fact for me it had parts which ran the whole gamut from brilliant, through "so bad it's good," to embarrassingly awful. Most of the cast, particularly Adam Sandler, Jennifer Aniston, Brooklyn Decker, and Nicole Kidman, put in excellent and enjoyable performances, and there are several scenes which are funny, moving or both. However, there are too many parts of the story which cross the line between so ridiculous it's funny and so ridiculous it's daft, or where characters who are meant to be sympathetic cross the line between displaying the sort of fallible behaviour of which we can all imagine ourselves being guilty, and the sort which is so downright callous or unprofessional that you cease to sympathise with the character. The film starts on the wedding day of the central character, Danny Maccabee (Sandler) who is about to become a surgeon. Without wishing to give too much away, things go terribly wrong and Danny is both badly hurt and put off the idea of marriage. The rest of the introductory section of the film explains how Danny, who becomes a very wealthy and successful plastic surgeon, develops into a compulsive womaniser who has found the perfect trick to make himself attractive to women who have in common with him that they are not looking for a long-term relationship. Then Danny meets Palmer (Brooklyn Decker) a stunningly attractive high school teacher about half his age. Suddenly, for the first time in many years, he thinks he might have found a woman who he wants to spend the rest of his life with. Unfortunately Palmer finds his old wedding ring, assumes that he is a married man who is cheating on his wife with her, and is furious.Convinced that Palmer would not believe the truth, Danny sets out to provide himself with a fake separated-and-about-to-be-divorced wife, and persuades his assistant and friend, Katherine (Jennifer Aniston) to play the role. But one lie leads to another, and all the lies snowball until Danny, Palmer, Katherine, her kids, and Danny's idiot cousin Eddie find themselves taking a holiday in Hawaii together, where there are even more opportunities for ridiculous goings on. Particularly when they run into Katherine's former high school rival, Devlin (Nicole Kidman.)It was complicated enough when Katherine was posing as Danny's wife to impress Palmer, but then they create a whole new set of lies involving Danny posing as Katherine's husband so that she won't look small in front of Devlin. And they have to keep both sets of lies straight ...Things that are worth watching the film for include a priceless "Hula girl" competition between Catherine and Devlin. Having initially rented the film, I will probably eventually buy it so I can have another opportunity to watch the expressions on the faces of Jennifer Aniston and Nicole Kidman during this scene, in one of the best displays of comic acting genius of 2011. Almost equally wonderful was the scene where Danny and his cousin teach Catherine's son to swim.An episode likely to appeal to many men on one level and many women on another is a swimsuit scene in which the camera cuts to Danny as Catherine joins Palmer in a lagoon. Through a combination of Adam Sandler's brilliantly expressive acting, and the fact that Jennifer Aniston looks good enough in a bikini not to be embarrassed by comparison with a similarly-clad Brooklyn Decker (who adorned the cover of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue the year before this film was released), you can almost see the gears working in Danny's head as he starts to think of Catherine in a completely different way.An example of a scene which was "so bad it's good" is where Danny's cousin Eddie finds himself having to play doctor to a sick sheep.Examples of embarrassingly bad scenes which nearly made me abandon the film occur when Adam Sandler's character displays a lack of compassion which made me unable to empathise with him or regard him as any sort of hero. Some of these scenes involve Catherine's kids, others have Danny and Katherine act in front of their patients with an atrocious lack of empathy and consideration which in the real world would be an intolerable lack of professionalism and could easily lead to a career-terminating complaint. One amusing in-joke in the casting is that the real-world spouses of two of the main characters have matching cameos in the film. Adam Sandler's real wife Jackie Sandler plays his character's fiance at the beginning of the film. Brooklyn Decker's real husband, tennis ace Andy Roddick, has an equivalent short appearance later, described in the credits as "good-looking guy on plane." If you don't watch tennis, or possibly even if you do, it's a "blink and you'll miss him" cameo: he's the chap wearing the "I love Justin Beiber" slogan.Overall this film definately has its' moments, but be prepared for the possibility that you may love it or hate it.I am a fan of both actors, and normally Adam is hugely funny, but geeez, it droned on for 45mins and found myself looking and doing other things, I'd give it a wide birth... tata for now..I personally loved this film, really funny, now one of my faviourte films, the blu ray was excellent extremely happy, lots of extrasOn a weekend trip to Hawaii, a plastic surgeon convinces his loyal assistant to pose as his soon-to-be-divorced wife in order to cover up a careless lie he told to his much-younger girlfriend. Also stars some amazing stars such as Adam Sandler, Jennifer Aniston, Nicole Kidman and Brooklyn DeckerI really recommend this film, its a 5 star film.i really love Adam Sandler's films and this one with Jennifer Aniston is no exception, it's hilarious! and i loved that the U.K. blu ray is also compatible with Region A players and it has Spanish subtitles and dubbing (Castillian Spanish) but still great feature, some of my friends don't speak English so it's great to watch with them!it was a lot cheaper than buying it in Mexico or the U.S. and that's including shipping! To be honest I expected more from Adam Sandler, after the excellent 'Grown Ups' I thought he'd found his form again, but alas he hasn't. The only thing that makes this film bearable is Jennifer Aniston's presence, but I'll watch anything with her in, a video of her doing the ironing would be entertaining for me, particularly if you can see her amazing legs as well. Perfect!
